Arináea Uhl'Ithenan is the youngest child and second daughter of Duchess Merai Uhl'Ithenan and Duke Ariathain Er'Olathe, the younger brother of Queen Fiaéain IV. While Arináea is a promising young sorceress with a powerful Lunar Gift, she has been kept out of the public eye throughout her youth due to the inauspicious circumstances surrounding her birth. Arináea was born during a total lunar eclipse, which is widely presumed to be a sign of ill omen. Many courtiers expect that, in absence of any other indications of sinister fortune, as Arináea comes of age, she will be welcomed into the court; however, that has yet to come to pass. For now, she remains cloistered away, an odd parallel to the fate of her cousin Prince Aesling, the feeble youngest son of Queen Fiaéain.
