Namchi

Namchi, a village of Lutra from Animas that was destroyed during a monsoon. Since their huts are so well made, many of them just floated away while the villagers were asleep. When they woke in the morning, they found out that they were far from any land they knew. The Lutra quickly lashed the huts together, dismantling a few to create platforms between them as a common area.
Quickly growing to like this life of floating on the waves, they sent scouts out to find food. While traveling they met Hyna Beatha a gargantuan Dragon Turtle traveling west. They asked if they could rest for the afternoon, and keep her company. She said that was fine as she was lonely.
While resting, they told her their story. Liking their attitude and demeanor she invited the village to a trial partnership to see if their personalities meshed. The new village became known as New Namchi

Demographics

The majority of the citizens are lutra, few other races visit for long.

Government

The village is run by a head person, be it man or woman or sometimes a city council. Sometimes this person is voted on, other times the previous head nominates their replacement. If a problem comes up that the head or the council can't solve, they often ask Beatha for advice. 
They have a truly communal lifestyle, which has no money, everything is based on barter and favors. When something needs to be done it is through a cooperative effort. There are few laws, everyone is expected to be a responsible adult if they want to share in the common resources. Of course, if they don’t want to cooperate they can do everything by themselves, no one is forced to contribute.

Infrastructure

The bajou believe that if it’s not broken don’t fix it. They use tried and true methods and don’t create something new if it’s not needed. They have no technology and live a simple life. This is how they like it, so why change it. They wake with the sun and sleep when it’s dark, so they don’t have lights except for a campfire, candle or lamp when needed.

This soon became a treasured partnership and they’ve lived with her ever since. Traveling in tandem for adventures, and what may come.
