Skyships

Written by Pookas Kreations

Skyships come in many shapes and sizes. They can be anything from a wingsuit, glider, dirigible, or an engine-propelled vehicle. This vehicle can be self, magic, air, or engine-propelled. The lighter-than-air skyships are almost exclusively made of Lightwood. Most are powered by Skystones and Gravity Stones.     The size and type of the ship limit what equipment can be mounted on the superstructure of the vehicle. The smallest can only mount thrusters, steering, and a seat for the pilot, with rarely much cargo space. Larger ships can mount various weapons, shields, and many levels for cargo and/or passenger cabins.    Many ships resemble ocean-going ships, because of the special qualities of the Skylands Continent, the Sky Gnome learned that these ships only need to be a fraction of the weight of the ships that they're modeled after. When lightwood and Fae Silk were discovered, many options opened to the builders of skyships.

Utility

There are as many ways to use a skyship as there are ways to build one.

Social Impact

When the use of airships was discovered, they were first used for exploration, then war, and finally for merchantile. Some even use them for housing, like the @sky

Inventor(s)
The first "true" skyship was built by Dieter Brightstone, one that carries more than a score of crew and looks like a ship.
Access & Availability
The smallest, and crudes skyships are often homebuilt, the larger the ship is often the most expensive. Any skyship can be DIY, but most specialty items have to be bought, especially Skystone Generator and other Magitech Technology.
Complexity
Skyships can be very simple or complex, it all depends on the idea you are willing to pay for.
