Belnias
Belnias is the Aran goddess of sun, warmth, daylight, life. She was a major protagonist in the The War of the Energies.
Belnias is has a significant following in Ebrion, especially in the south of the region. She is, however, viewed negatively in Alagria, her burning rays of sunlight in the desert deemed as a punishment.
Divine Domains
Belnias is credited with the creation of the Sun and its associated light, warmth, and gentle heat. As the Sun supports most life on Ara, she is also associated with life.
As the Sun drives the seasons and the measuring of time via sun-dials and standing stones, Belnias is also sometimes associated with cyclical time in her domain. Linear time, though sits with Arawn and her connection with inevitability.
However, whilst in some climates, the Sun's heat is gentle, in others it is scorching. In these regions, Belnias is viewed as harsh and remorseless, beating down and making the earth dead and burning the skin. The life that she gives is seen as one of punishment and suffering. Her cults in those regions respect her through fear. Cults of Oloch view her as a test of faith in Oloch and his gentle darkness.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
Belnias is most commonly represented with the Solar disk. Her early followers built circles of standing stones as places of worship, which also served to track the time of day and seasons. As such, to differentiate the solar disk, it is common to see standing stones superimposed upon it, either vertically or in circumference. In more recent times, those standing stones have also been repositioned to resemble a clock-face.
