Khasdall (Kas-dall)

Overview

Second of Ruthar's triplets, he is the patron deity of hill dwarves and the dwarven god of commerce and underground exploration. The weakest physically of the triplet gods, he was the first to mold gold into currency and created some of the first banks on Aralla during the rivalry with his brothers, claiming that with enough wealth he could simply own his brothers works in time. Although he was focused on the advancement of the economy and the gaining of wealth, his tenets focused more on legal ways to obtain wealth, and he passed on the portfolio of the not legal methods onto his son Grugas.

Portfolio and Responsibilities

He is a god whose portfolio includes mercantilism, gold, gems, banking, wealth, minting, hill dwarves, trade, and recently Dwarven death. Khasdall's clerics, known as the talhund ("hidden gifts"), protected mines and trade routes from disrespectful profiteers as well as sought out new veins and gem deposits.

Holidays

On the first night of each month, talhund and lay followers of Khasdall sacrifice gems and jewelry upon large stone blocks. Specially tasked talhund pulverize these offerings while the congregation gives thanks to the Keeper of Secrets under the Hill. Khasdall also serves as the dwarves’ deity of the dead, and hence talhund are tasked with disposing of corpses and seeing that their souls pass successfully to the afterworld.

Example Paladin Codes

By Khasdall's golden grace, I take this oath, forging a pact with the shimmering depths and the treasures they conceal. As a talhund, I am both protector and prospector, dedicated to the true worth of the dwarven race.
  • I swear allegiance to the radiant shine of gold and the gleam of precious gems, for they are the gifts of Khasdall to the dwarven race.
  • I vow to protect the integrity of commerce, ensuring that no false deals or treacherous ploys tarnish the sanctity of trade. Wealth gained through deceit is a stain upon Khasdall's honor and shall not be tolerated.
  • I commit to safeguarding the sacred mines, the very heart of our wealth. I shall defend them against those who would exploit them without reverence or respect.
  • While I respect the allure of gold, I shall never let it eclipse the value of family, honor, or duty. Wealth is but a tool; it is not the measure of a dwarf's true worth.
  • I pledge to uphold the law, for Khasdall values not just wealth but the just means of its acquisition. The shadowy paths of deceit and theft are not our way and belong to another's domain.
  • In the solemn moments when our kin depart from this realm, I shall remember Khasdall's new charge over Dwarven death, ensuring that the departed are honored with the wealth and reverence they deserve, for their contributions to our legacy.
