Ydion (Yee-dee-on)
Overview
Son of Ruthar and one of the three of his triplets that also include Serdohr and Khasdall. He is the patron deity of mountain dwarves and a great friend of the god Harrus. His rivalry with his two brothers far before the Calamity caused a split in the dwarven race, separating them into the Mountain Dwarves, Hill Dwarves, and Wild Dwarves. He was in the best graces with his father Ruthar, and was his right hand during the Calamity.Portfolio and Responsibilities
He is a god whose portfolio includes war, bravery, honor, training, mountain dwarves, and glory in battle. Ydion's clerics, known as alaghor ("Those who demonstrate valor in battle") taught and learnt the art of forging armour and weapons, and practiced military training each day. Though they sought to make their dwarven brethren stronger on the battlefield through their teachings. He delighted in battle, although he did not tolerate treachery or deceit, and he expected his followers to do the same. He and his followers hated giants and orcs and trained their fellow dwarves in special ways to fight them.Divine Domains

Holidays
The anniversaries of past battles hold special significance for the alaghor. On such occasions, the clerics break old weapons anointed with their own blood and recount tales of fallen heroes that they might never be forgotten. More disturbing (at least from the perspective of their enemies) are the frenzied war chants in which the alaghor engage during the heat of battle. Known as ehontar (“songs giving fear to the hearts of the craven”), these low, droning songs bolster the spirits of nearby dwarves, assuring them that Ydion immediately enlists in his celestial army those who fall furthering the destiny of the dwarves or protecting their holdings. Alaghor know they will die in combat; the rest is merely a matter of timing.
Example Paladin Codes
By the unyielding stone and the towering peaks, I swear my allegiance to Ydion, son of Ruthar, champion of the mountain dwarves, and beacon of honor in battle's chaos. As a paladin, tempered by fire and conviction, I vow to:- Like the steadfast mountain, I shall not waver, no matter the force that seeks to topple me. My bravery shall inspire and serve as a bastion for those around me.
- In every clash of steel and will, I shall uphold the virtues of honor and integrity. Treachery and deceit have no place in my heart or upon my blade.
- I shall respect and master the art of the forge, crafting armor and weapons worthy of Ydion's blessing. Each piece shall be a testament to the glory and strength of the mountain dwarves.
- Each day is an opportunity to hone my skills. I shall train, not just for myself, but to uplift my brethren, ensuring our collective might in the face of adversity.
- I aspire for glory in battle, but not at the expense of my honor or the lives of my comrades. Every victory shall be a testament to Ydion's teachings.
- I vow to defend against the threats of giants, orcs, and all who dare to harm the sanctity of our mountains. My knowledge and training will be tailored to thwart these ancient enemies.
