The Deep Field

Aramanth has numerous sources for power and magic upon its surface, and one of the most prevalent is the Deep Field. The Deep Field is an emanation that exists in the background space all throughout Aramanth for several hundred miles out from it into the void. Its origin is from an innumerable number of devices dating back to Deep Time that either read, compiled, or projected information invisibly through the air. Over eons, these devices were added on with other machines, interfaced with antennae, and modified with stranger forms of lore and sorcery. Through evolution and decay, all these things began to interface and bleed into one another, forming a massive, all-encompassing background ocean of information that suffuses all of Aramanth. 
Of all the remnants leftover by the Ancients, the Deep Field is the one most used by modern peoples. It is said that the Deep Field holds a reading on every single aspect of reality in and around itself, and perhaps even beyond its physical borders. It is referred to using oceanic terms, because to those not prepared the seeming infinite depth of data pressed in on an unprepared mind can drown one's very sanity. Much of the data is seemingly meaningless, readings on aspects of reality that cannot be perceived or interacted with within the confines of mortal dimensions. Some of the data is overtly corrupted, Aberrant Data that can harm or even deform one's mind or physical body through even minor exposure. 
Still, the unique traits of the Deep Field allow not just for the intricate reading of aspects regarding existence, but also for both granular and sweeping alterations of it. Those with the skill and training to properly access the Deep Field can accomplish incredibly powerful manipulations of reality. Creation, destruction, influence, and precognition are all within the means of someone with enough skill at field manipulation.
Safe access to can it can be done through a multitude of ways, from enacting precise rituals or incantations, through intensive meditation or even specific forms of thought. One of the most prominent ways, however, is through the use of semi-sentient machines that can be carried or implanted called Translators that filter and process the Field to allow for safe manipulation. Sometimes the Deep Field is accessed through none of these methods, and manifests all on its own. Ghosts, daemons, and many, many other forms of intelligence exist within the field. Some are benevolent, and some are notably less so.
Thus far, there has been no comprehensive map made of the various flows and eddies of the Deep Field, and many speculate that its actual depth and expanse might very well be close to infinite.
