Session 11: Burning Tension

General Summary

Grief hung heavy in the air as the adventurers trudged back to Lutzen Lodging . Sirrai Saintglows absence, a gaping wound in their fellowship, was a constant reminder of the price paid for Tridar's quest. Their meager compensation of 25 gold was topped up with a smoking scabbard that sparked curiosity in Solomon, however, it offered scant solace.   At the temple of Pelor, tension flared. Keyes, defiant as ever, scoffed at the Night Warden's offer of redemption, his arrogance culminating in the senseless destruction of temple shrubs. Solomon, ever the diplomat, appeased the offended priests with a pouch of gold.   Back at Lutzen's. Eirik Lutzen offered some parting gifts - a teleportation sigil - promised a way back if they found another mage to draw the sigil and he parted with one of his revolvers which he gave to Keye's. But camaraderie felt strained. Corrin's apology to Solomon for Euni's rudeness did little to mend the rift with Keyes.   Solomon, a keen observer, saw a potential link between the smoking scabbard and a broken blade they possessed. Perhaps, he mused, they were destined to be reunited. Meanwhile, Kolme displayed an unsettling connection to Sirrai's memories, recalling the encounter with Gideon the moth.   Reaching Mihali, they found Marigold and Vishka working tirelessly to rebuild the town. When Marigold went to get their reward, the party refused it, all but Keye's. Marigold, touched by their heroism, insisted on giving them something her parting gift, however, was a curious one – an ancient cloak clasp far older than their own. Its purpose remained a mystery, a whisper from a forgotten past, Keye's demands for the gold he felt he so rightfully deserved caused further tension within the party and concern for his reasons for adventuring.   Marigold promised to give the party a positive review and seek potential adventuring points for them. Kolme, yearning for a place to belong, expressed a desire to join them. Keyes, however, pointed out the League trials she'd need to pass – a hurdle they'd address upon reaching Idwala.   As they made camp the angel Minerva appeared and again requested for Keye's to repent, as he refused the cross became heavier, with more punishments to come. Keyes would prefer to sever his arm than repent for his sins against the god Pelor.   Stephen thought he found an Oasis, however, it seemed to just be a mirage and as the party converged on the Oasis a swirling mass of wind and sand began to push toward them.
