Brent "Patchface" Calloway

Patchface is the son of Meryn Calloway with his wife Olenna, making him the younger half-brother and also cousin of Zayne Calloway .   Brent, as he used to be known, was a performer along with his cousin Zayne. Those who have spent time around the tower would have heard the story that Brent fell in love with Lord Jass' youngest daughter Lina Caleil in their teens. When she was betrothed to a knight in service to House Sortheras, he tried to make her stay, but she did not love him the way he loved her. It's disputed whether he took a boat after her to try and follow, or if he was just trying to drown himself, but he washed up on shore a week later a changed man.   From that moment, the currently known Patchface was born, as he had a long gash across the entire middle of his face and parts of his head. Ever since then he's been mentally deranged, spouting strange poems about the sea. Lord Jass took pity on him, perhaps due to the urging of his daughters or perhaps because he was the son of the Captain of the Guard, and allowed him to continue to work at the tower as court jester - even though he mostly just disturbs and frightens people with his performances.   Zayne Calloway is frequently his partner for performances, but Patchface takes his job very seriously. He always has his face painted a ghostly white, with black makeup mostly obscuring his awful scar. He can be heard by the tinkle of bells on his shoes, or by his obnoxious and inappropriate bouts of cackling.   Quotes:   Him: "Planks breaks ‘neath sweat and feet, planks breaks ‘neath waves of greys, planks breaks ‘neath sails in ‘twain, and when enough planks breaks the earth shakes and quakes and wakes anew”   About him (Hena Goqabah): "A jester is meant to bring laughs and smiles, but this one only makes everyone sad or scared when he's around. Send him to war and let him die or gain glory in the vanguard, that's what my family would do."
