Brass Hall

The great Brass Hall the oldest still working forge in the city and the seat of power for The Iron Hands. This location serves as the main place for where Artifex are conceived, produced and sold. Not as much of the total ore mined out of the The Garden Wall is processed here any more instead being diverted to other areas where noise pollution and smoke are less troubling to nearby residents. Instead of the sounds of great bellows and shaping of iron and steel. The sound of a gavel from the auction house is what is most prevalent.

Appearance

The Brass Hall is a grand, imposing building that was once a bustling refinery. The exterior of the building is made of brick and steel, with tall smokestacks rising up from the rooftop. The walls are blackened with soot and grime from years of industrial activity, but have been partially cleaned to showcase the intricate metalwork that adorns the building. The main entrance is a large set of double doors, made of brass and inlaid with intricate patterns of gears and clockwork. Above the doors, a sign reads "The Brass Hall: Home of the Iron Hands." The doors are always guarded by a large group of Iron Hands muscle.   As you enter the building, you are greeted by the sight of a grand, open-plan studio, filled with workbenches, tools, and materials. The space is illuminated by skylights and large windows, which allow natural light to flood the space. The floor is made of polished concrete, and there are large, industrial-style fans mounted on the walls to help circulate the air. The walls are adorned with large, detailed metal sculptures, and the room is filled with the sounds of hammering, welding, and the hiss of steam.   At the far end of the studio, there is a large stage, where auctions and exhibitions are held. The stage is surrounded by rows of seating, and there is a large projection screen at the back of the stage, used to showcase the works of the Iron Hands' artisans. The stage is also equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, making it a perfect venue for performances and events.   In the back of the studio, there are several private rooms and offices where the Iron Hands' artists and staff work. These spaces are more refined than the main studio, and are decorated with plush furnishings and fine art.   Overall, the Brass Hall is a unique blend of industrial and artistic styles, showcasing the Iron Hands' artistic talents

Purpose

The Brass Hall serves a dual purpose it is where the artisans that are so coveted by Wila Goldfoot work tirelessly to produce the art pieces she so craves among these the Artifex.   It's other purpose though is to provide a place to conduct business including the auctions that are held on a near weekly basis for Artifex that are produced that are not custom jobs for clients.

History

As mentioned before the Brass Hall is the oldest still working forge in the city and one of the oldest buildings within the Walls of Arbor. Though much of it's original structure has fallen over and been repaired multiple times it is difficult to say if much of the original building does still remain. In fact there is even a saying that originates with the Brass Hall pondering that if every brick, rivet and wooden joist has been replaced is it still the same building. An interesting thought experiment but suffice to say the location where the Brass Hall stands has been in the Goldfoot family for generations and until the Second Ring grew around it and it became socially unacceptable to have a foundry blasting 24/7 was the main site of ore processing in the city.   It was only when Artifex production became prevalent that the Brass Hall was converted into what it is today and likely the land would have simply been sold if not for Martin Cephas Goldfoot, the man credited with their introduction into the rest of society
