Session 3: Departures Report
General Summary
Stump and Goose had a moment, both were feeling that the life of a seeker wasn't a good fit for them, that thier destinies lay elsewhere, in the world of Geese and Goose Egg Omlettes. With that, there was a tearful goodbye (mostly from Flic) and they left to see the world, or at least, the specific bit of the world that contained gooses.
After they left on their way, the rest of the party set about emptying the pockets of the dead goblins when they were approached from the west by a curious pair, Nikolas and Daphnis, an Swiftbreeze Genasi Warlock and a Halfling Druid. The pair had gotten turned around in the forest and heard the commotion and came running to find help getting back to civilization.
The remaining Seekers agreed to help them back to Quinton but said they'd have to first go north to investigate the goblin rituals, which the pair agreed to help with, being no fan of goblins after staying alone in the forest for so long.
The party woke up the remaining Goblin, Bouz, and asked him how to get to the shaman Drekkgrub, Flic's charm and quick thinking convinced the goblin they were part of the plan and that they were meant to be with two hobgoblins that had joined up with the Shaman, and so he gave them directions to head north until they got to a dead tree and then turn north east and they should make it. he warned them away from heading into a straight line as there were a series of caves that way where ogres made their homes.
They headed north, coming across a cliff with a family of boars sheltering inside, although Arenor spotted something temptingly shiny, cooler heads prevailed and they let the Druid speak to the boars and let them pass without incident. The druid then spoke with a passing Oakenfinch, who told them of the increase in Moss Sprites in the area lately, which was unusual.
Aware of the watching Moss Sprites, they travelled north, eventually Ofelia spotted one in a tree, where it was watching them. Ofelia decided it was best to cover it with their cloak and move one, Nikolas helped everyone use camoflage to try to avoid being seen by any more as they carried on.
Eventually they came across the dead tree that Bouz had told them about, a huge and once mighty Redhart that was now rotting and seeming to spread this contamination into the surrounding area. A horrible glyph was carved in the trunk and when Ofelia touched this mark they became instantly nauseated.
Arenor used his sacred flame to wipe away the fell magic from the sigil, which an eldritch blast from Nikolas removed its physical form. Flic then found a new growing sapling from close by, a descendent of the Redhart, and together with the druid they grafted the sapling into the old tree and encouraged it to grow anew.
Heading north east, they finally found the shaman and saw he had begun the ritual, guarded by the hobgolbins and four of his own goblins, the party decided to sneak closer for a better look, they were spotted and had to start fighting the group with a mind to stopping the ritual.
Attempting to surround the group, Arenor and Flic went round stealthily while the others moved forward, luring a group away from the shaman where they attacked. The fighting began, with one of the Hobgoblins falling quickly and the first of the goblins following but the other group surrounded the shaman and held formation.
