Santa Bella
Santa Bella is a slaving city at the mouth of the River Villela, in the province of Viega. Viega is in the south of Montevillo. Controlled primarily by the Bolivar and Serreno Clans, the city is largely lawless and has only a very slight crownsguard presence. Santa Bella trades mostly in slaves, operating along roads east to Maraba, Qirek. It also has a thriving economy of silk, rice, cotton, and other grains. These are mainly farmed in the region just outside of the city, operated by slave owners.
Demographics
Santa Bella is home to a variety of racial groups, though the demographics are primarily human. Drow are largely discriminated against socially and economically, due to their status as slaves.
Many people in Santa Bella work as farmers, merchants, craftsmen or peddlers. The illegal nature of trade and many services in the city has also lead many to a life of minor crime. Many manage illegal gambling dens, bucket shops, and fight clubs. The wealthiest are those belonging to, or working for, the Bolivars or the Serrenos. The wealth disparity is obviously apparent within the city, with the poorest earning less than 40 gp a year, and the wealthiest over 5,000.
