The safe zones need a way to defend themselves. Anti Air cannons only go so far. Humanity needs a more precise way of waging their war for survival.

With the threat of extinction by alien attack still very real, even with the city's defenses, the people that survived the initial siege needed way to defend themselves should the defenses get breached. The first thought was a unit of shock troopers. They'd be in, and out at lightning speeds with minimal casualties. This unit was called the Archangels Drop Shock Troopers (ADST). They were deployed on the first breach made by the mechanon. Casualties were greatly reduced with these tactics, but still, the unit sustained heavy losses. The unit would stay for now, but humanity needs a more permanent solution.
