Session 12: Fun with Portals

General Summary

Meanwhile, a shadowy figure appears on top of Wiliman Silverkin, gleaming blue in the pale moonlight, it appears to be Aliñar Daeran. She awakens Wil with a heavy smack, "Wake up, are you ready? Nobody has time for your whining your sleep." Then suddenly, she stabs him right in the gut. Howling in pain, Wil's screams awaken Krusk, Leif Arrowsken, Deja, and Dolor Darean.
Pitri and Saphie in the library, are aware of the tremors. A few books fall off the shelves in the library. In comes Master Fa followed by another monk, saying he will escort them back to the bunkhouse, since the earthquakes have started back up. Saphie looks up to Pitri with a look of sheer terror, Pitri is uncertain what's going on, eyeing them up and down, when suddenly-the sound of Deja's gun pierces the air.
Suddenly morphing into a grey and featureless form, the figure that was Master Fa says, "Well I thought we would have more time." It is clearly another part of the ROGUE card. As a reaction, Pitri shoots lightning from his Ring of Lightning Bolt attacking the shadowy figures, both of whom appear to be changelings and morphs into his dragon form, letting out a fearsome roar. Saphie climbs atop his back and whispers, "Cover your ears Pitri" just before letting out a thunderwave, knocking back the rogue changelings, and strewing books everywhere. The changelings fight back, laying hard into Pitri's dragon form, with attacks so vicious that he drops out of his dragon shape. Pitri communicates with Saphie in draconic, "We better get out of here, teleport to the roof," before using his Misty Step to escape. Saphie takes the brunt of an another assault before teleporting to the roof. As Pitri and Saphie catch their breath on the roof, they see the source of the tremors, a Skaven Excavator with Skaven pouring out. DEATH emerges and is quickly intercepted by the real Master Fa and they begin to duel, right in front of the excavator.
Krisella emerges from hiding in Jardin's bag, aware of the commotion and begins to help Eert and Jardin engage the skaven pouring towards the main courtyard gate.
Deja, Leif, Krusk, and Wiliman mop up the skaven near the bunkhouse and a changeling inside the bunkhouse. Pitri, R'kir, and Saphie manage to take out the other two changelings. Meanwhile, Eert, Jardín, and Krisella start neutralizing the other skavens and taking on a pair of very large Skaven Ogres. Another Skaven, with a more humanoid appearance and curved horns emerging from his forehead steps out of the Skaven Excavator.
The party continues to chip away at the skaven and ogres, the Horned Skaven Sorcerer lets loose a devastating acid attack, severely damaging Deja, Jardin, and Krusk. As that happens, the group notices an organized battalion of Skaven Warriors marching the uphill path to the monastery, several dozen armored skaven with glinting weapons marching in a terrible unison will still be upon them.
DEATH deals a nearly fatal blow to Master Fa, cleaving him in half, at the waist. Falling to the ground, a bloodied Fa reaches up to R'kir, visible coursing of jade green and swirling gold chi leaves Fa, Rushing into R'kir's chest. DEATH looks confused, almost astonished that R'kir was able to absorb the chi of Master Fa . With R'kir renewed and energized, DEATH turns his gaze to Saphie. Pitri sends a message to Sapphie that they need to escape, and fast. She has an idea, if they can just get to the corner of the courtyard. R'kir holds off DEATH, nearly dying in the process while Jardin summons several fey giant owls to escort the party to the far corner of the courtyard, next to the library and the bunkhouse.
As the group moved through the overgrown courtyard, filled with Jardin's plant growth, Sapphie began to cast the an arcane spell, summoning a gate. Wiliman, R'kir, and Pitri began flying to provide cover for the slower party members on foot, while Krusk, Leif and Deja attempted to provide covering fire as they retreated. Sapphie was clearly straining under the weight of the arcane magic coursing through her, some of her scales began to crack and a trickle of blood began to start from her nose. Jardin thrust her staff into the portal, causing a giant fey tree to grow, creating a large tree with a portal embedded in its trunk. Almost instantly, the crashing and grinding of wood on wood echoed forth, as the arcane energies twisted the trees bark, branches, and trunk.
"I can't hold much longer!" Sapphie yelled out. The strain was clearly taking a toll, the weight of maintaining the spell might soon kill her, she was beginning to crackle and glow with arcane energy, rifts forming in her skin.
Sensing this, Jardin shoved the girl through the portal, ending the spell. Jardin, Wiliman, R'kir, Krisella and Pitri stood alone, against DEATH. Sapphie, Eert, Leif, Deja, Dolor, and Krusk were on the other side, who knows where.
Eventually Wiliman deals the killing blow to DEATH, sealing away his power in the card...they stand alone, the skaven army almost on top, as they fly away on the backs of the giant owls.
