2022-10-19 Goblin Bandits on the Road

Player Characters

  • Pocket
  • Tarhun
  • Laucian
  • Alystin

Summary

  • The party took the southern road from Salmund to search for the goblin bandits.
  • Goblins ambushed them along the road, but the party defeated them. Two goblins were spared; one was chased and caught while the other was "held" captive by Tarhun.
  • The party intimidated the goblins into leading them to their clan's home.
  • While resting for the night, Tarhun witnessed a light falling from the sky. He found it: a blue primal crystal with energy-resistant properties that was cold to the touch.
  • The next day, the goblins led the party to their clan's camp. The players decided to approach to negotiate.
  • Boss Hark, a hobgoblin and the leader of the Bonepike Clan, was suspicious of the group. The players released their captives as a show of good faith.
  • Boss Hark explained that humanoids have been driving goblins out of their homes and hunting their prey in the forest, and accused the players of being involved. Pocket explained that they believe the Order of the Emerald Feather are at fault, and that they share a common enemy with the goblins.
  • Alystin and Laucian convinced the goblins that Laucian's paintings are valuable, and that they can be sold in town in exchange for food.
  • Grobby, a goblin that survived the Order's attack in a previous mission, recognized Tarhun. He stepped forward to vouch for the group.
  • Pocket successfully negotiated a truce: the town would give the goblins food to help them survive, and both sides would fight together against the Order.
  • Boss Hark gave the group a woodcarved turtle amulet that was dropped by a fleeing member of the Order during a fight.
  • The party returned to town accompanied by Grobby. Convinced by the turtle amulet and Grobby's presence, Sheriff Karock accepted the offer for a truce and rewarded the group for completing their objective. He suggested asking the carpenter Melevar Idurel about the amulet.
  • The party showed the wooden turtle amulet to Melevar. He recognized it as belonging to his son Yviel who ran away recently after talking about joining a sketchy group. He allowed the PCs to look around Yviel's room for clues.
  • The party found a recruitment flyer for the Order of the Emerald Feather in Yviel's room, further confirming that he joined them. The flyer contained a map leading to a location in the forest.
