Order of the Emerald Feather

The Order of the Emerald Feather was a group of mercenaries traveling around the Bazen Lowlands, promising villages protection from wild threats like goblins, kobolds, and giants in exchange for money. Their influence grew quickly over the course of a few months, amassing nearly 200 members.   Their protection racket cost was 1000gp / month. Some villages paid, like Gryphton and Brightmeadow. Others refused, like Mereville, Deerwatch, and Salmund. Villages that refused to pay were attacked by a variety of goblins, ogres, and giants, which turned out to be provoked by members of the Order themselves.   A large group of adventurers discovered the Order's greedy and malicious nature over the course of 12 missions. They defended the village from the Order's attempts at spying, sabotage, kidnapping, and assault. These adventurers then brought the attack back to the Order, taking down each of the three segments of its leadership and putting and end to its crimes.

Organization

The Order had three leaders, each residing in a different hideout and with different duties:
  • Chief of Arms: Weaponry and training. Hideout was the abandonded Fort Mydro.
  • Chief of Eyes: Information and spying. Hideout was a mazelike tunnel in the northern Bazen Hills called the Den of Eyes.
  • Chief of Feathers: Operations and strategy. Hideout was a tide-worn cave in the southwest corner of Sandreach.
The Order of the Emerald Feather had a recruitment center in Kazzin Forest, which was run by Officer Dara. Prospective members would go on a simple mission to prove their worth and dedication, then be invited to a camp of cabins deep in the woods.
