Ancient Laboratory Journal 1 - Too Dark

Text

This world is too dark. It has been troublesome to travel the cold, muted, rocky landscape. Nobody has an idea where we are or how we got here.
The only sign of life we’ve encountered are some meek grasses and shrubs. The plants seem to be gradually getting denser as we travel northward. The only edible material we’ve found are these plants, and they’re not exactly palatable. Hopefully, if we continue to follow them, we’ll eventually find a denser place with vegetables or fungi. We’re going to build a temporary site next to this pointed mountain here, as an outpost to support further exploration.
  [Later entry]
We’ve decided to establish a more permanent building here. The others have been collecting these colorful enchanted crystals tucked into hidden corners of the land, and we’re keen to research their potential. I feel like this is some kind of game, as though someone put us on this world as a test, and these colored crystals are a piece of it. I wonder how we win the game? Are the crystals the goal, a tool to progress, or just a distraction?
