The Beast

The Beast is described as a "terrifying, vicious, wolflike spirit" that attacked the inhabitants of the feywild some time ago. Many fey were killed, but in the end, it was defeated. Its name is sometimes whispered in fearful tones by feykind who remember its ferocity.

Encounters

The Beast resurged for a while: multiple large beasts, including displacer beasts, owlbears, and brown bears, have been discovered clawed and cleanly decapitated. Trails of goatlike hoofprints were found nearby, leading away. Wild creatures, members of the Order of the Emerald Feather, and Granny Myrna Moldypits have all described dangerous encounters with the monster, which strikes in the dark of night in Kazzin Forest.

During 2022-11-12 Finding Granny, a group of adventurers made the mistake of camping in an area that it recently passed through. This party witnessed the terrifying power of the Beast, as it extinguished their lights and restrained them by contorting the darkness itself. It seemed annoyed by a casting of faerie fire, and fled after being hit, sparing the party. It appeared as a tall, furry humanoid form with a canine face, thorned horns, long claws, and hooves.

During 2023-01-28 Fey Invitation, a group of adventurers discovered the truth about the Beast: that it was the result of a dividing ritual used by Metricus to drive it out of the Feywild. This original form was the Beast Warden, which defended the forest's fauna. The more recent "Beast" turned out to be the fey lady Argessa, who was masquerading as the Beast to collect materials for a dark ritual.
