The Moon

The Sun and Moon rise and fall from East to West, one occupying the sky at a time. The cold silvery-blue moon glows in the night sky, a bright ball of ice that dimly illuminates the nighttime sky and cools the land. Hahalua leads it through its path across the sky.

The moon is often symbolized with a crescent despite the fact it never actually appears as a crescent shape.

The moon is the Orb of Equilibrium created by the ancient stoutfolk to offset heat from the Sun. It is launched from the Dawn Cannon on Dawn Island each nightfall.

Moon Phases

Archestria's moon doesn't have phases like the moon of Earth; instead, its phases are a matter of brightness: it brightens (waxing) to a limit (full moon) then dims (waning) until it can't be seen (new moon). This transformation occurs on a monthly cycle, similar to Earth's moon.
