We have discovered many ancient ruins in this zone around the great lake. Each time I think I begin to understand their story, I uncover something completely different, in a completely different language, with a completely different style of art and architecture. My people all share a common language, with only branching dialects… how did so many different ancient beings coexist in the same place? I feel as though the answer is obvious, staring me in the face, but I just can’t see it yet.

This particular building appears to be a simple home, with no windows. The deepest chamber contains an enormous chest with a name on it, written in the rare barcode script. What wonders might this stone repository hold, if only I could open it! I suspect a command password will unlock it. What might it be? I know that if it were mine, I would choose something important to me- maybe a favorite beast, a philosophical concept, a virtue I respect… Alas, too many possibilities.

Div reportedly discovered the ruins of a city 20 miles due northwest of this location. I’m headed there next to join her.
