Telepathy, Standard

The capabilities of most telepathic beings in Arcturus (e.g. the Verakor) are as follows.

Sight

Sight is not a limiter on your telepathy. You can communicate with unseen intelligences.

Specificity and Knowledge

To open a telepathic "channel," you must know that an intelligence is within your range and you must contact them specifically. You cannot, for instance, scan for the presence of an enemy, or call frantically for help, by merely projecting a telepathic message to all within 60 feet of you.

Feedback

When you successfully open a channel, you will know it by the qualia it produces in your consciousness. If you attempt to open a channel with, say, a sophisticated holographic illusion of a person, you will immediately realize that nothing with a psyche is truly there.

Mechanical Beings

Telepathy is a function of neural networks, not necessarily of biological substrates. Robots with sufficient intelligence to speak a language can generally receive and respond to telepathic messages to the same degree that biotic telepaths can.
