Written Backstory
On the night of the solar eclipse, which only happens every 5 years on the anniversary of the Shadow's slaying of the God Mendos, The Shadow's power is at its greatest. It was It was on this unfortunate night 25 years ago that Fajr was born in Al Andalous. It is not known whether it was by direct intervention or some of The Shadow's power just happened to become infused in the newborn baby. Most Al-Andalousians are born with dark skin, but Fajr's skin was born a deep Ebony, with black eyes; marking him as cursed by The Shadow itself. As Fajr grew, he found that The Shadow's power withing him grew alongside him: making him speak in shadowspeak, giving him the ability to cast dark magicks, and causing his already Ebony body to grow darker yet. It did not take long for the Shadow Assassins to arrive on his family's doorstep with an ultimatum: be slain where he stood, or be taken into the Shadow Assassins for watch and training. Even at his young age it was the easiest coice Fajr ever made, giving him a way to do something about the unease that the curse constantly gives him. The Shadow Assassins taught Fajr how to fight and kill his enemies, scout without being seen, enchant arrows with powerful magics granted by continually paying to Mendos, and most importantly to suppress and control the Shadow within him. Unfortunately not only as he continued to get older, but also as his skills and prowess grew caused the Shadow within him to grow stronger still. Being raised by the Shadow Assassins not only required perfection in all matters, but Fajr himself had his every action heavily scrutinized due to his connection with The Shadow. Any agents who know him, know that he is fiercely loyal, but always carry the fear the The Shadow will consume him one day. Fajr was only allowed to continue operating so long as he showed no hints of working subversively for The Shadow. His daily prayers to Mendos grant him most of his magical powers, and seems to help stave off the curse as he has become able to speak Celestial in times of strife instead of just shadowspeak. Not much else is known about Fajr as he takes his training seriously, but he will always announce that his goal is to personally destroy The Shadow. Personally, Fajr has no idea if killing The Shadow will end his curse, or kill him as well because of their connection, but he keeps treading forward anyways. Why the Shadow Assassins sent him to assist the Torches alone, not even he knows, but he continues to report to the Shadow Assassins regularly with single minded determination to complete his mission.
