Chapter One: Elemental Cycle
The Master said:
"Elemental magic is the manipulation of the elemental cycle¹, spirit magic is the manipulation of spiritual energies²; we leave the spirits to the shamans. Elements; all things are composed of them, they are the building blocks of the material realm. Energy, Light, Air; these are the heavenly elements. Water, Plant, Fire, Earth, Metal; these are the earthly elements." "Only one with full elemental harmony is capable of manipulating the elements, this is called a "jil". We are jil³, the elements exist in harmony within us: Water is our blood, Plant⁴ is our organs, Fire is our heat, Earth is our bones, Metal is our skin; Energy gives us mind, Light gives us perception, Air gives us life." "The heavenly elements give things shape and structure: in the stone Energy forms it's foundation, Light allows it to hold it's shape and texture, Air allows it to exist within the cycle. The earthly elements give things their properties: the stone is what it is because of Earth and Metal, the river is what it is because of Water." Read the original here: Gok-Çog Böşşizǝkh: Khön

¹The Elemental Cycle refers to the traditional Jazeric way of organizing the Earthly Elements: Water, Life, Fire, Earth, Metal ²The Master is referring to the Jazeri practice of nıkçö which is a form of magic or shamanism involving the communication with spirits ³jil is the Jazeric word for "body", in this context it refers to a living organism which is made up of all the Elements. Within all sentient beings you can find traces of every element, therefore we are "jil" ⁴"Plant" refers to the element that we now call "Life"
