The Elements
The world is made of Elements, as described by Jazer Master Einirk , they are the basis of all matter. The Elements can be divided into two groups: Earthly Elements and Heavenly Elements, as they are known in Jazeri litterature.
The Heavenly or Non-solid Elements form the shape and structure of all things, the Earthly or Solid Elements give things their properties. Referring to the Elements using their Jazeric names us customary.
The Earthly Elements (khönbin) are as follows:
- Water (ciş), representing liquids, fluidity, change
- Fire (ger), representing heat, fury, passion
- Life (dih), representing nature, growth, bliss
- Earth (şunt), representing strength, determination, stubbornness
- Metal (qhon), representing weaponry, craftsmanship, ingenuity
- Light (nög), the Moulding Force that forms the shape or mould of things
- Energy (ow), the Binding Force that holds matter together
- Air (ein), the Flowing Force that connects all matter and resonates through all things
Manifestation
The Elements can be manipulated by certain people who we call elementalists. Becoming an elementalist requires rigorous effort and study as well as meditation to form a sort of mental connection to the Elements. Broadly speaking the manipulation of the elements is referred to as "magic".
The Elements can be utilized in various forms of magic, for example: elemental combat, alchemy and enchanting. Different cultures emphasize different forms of magic and different Elements, for example: the Havlic Empire rarely used elementalists in combat, especially in the early Imperial Age where the use of the elements in combat was seen as heretical. The Jazeri have a long history of elemental martial arts. The Tsedrins focus heavily on Earth and use Earth magic in construction. The Gartheoir utilize Metal and Fire to forge powerful weaponry and enchanters to imbue elemental power into them.
