Decit

In the far-most northern reaches of Sedden there is a desert nation known as Decit. Being the oldest unified nation known to Sedden, Decit is held in high respect by those of Filyn, Muria, and many others. Known mostly for their endurance and distance over the years, the people of Decit remain functional and fine on their own, and have never really dabbled much in intervening or interacting with the other Seddenese nations. Despite this, they remain up to date on tech, and almost all social progressions. Though they remain a meritocracy in most ways, they have a number of standard social services like schools, healthcare and living subsidies, and so on.   Unlike many budding nations of it's time, Decit has thrived due to it's perseverance and careful planning. Every building in Decit, from your average home to the massive sandstone castles of emperors of old, every structure in Decit is built to last. Every deal, every law, every road, every monument has an incredible amount of careful consideration taken before it's implementation or construction. It was the Decitian who inspired the Filyan educational system, as well as things like Unity's universal basic income. Decit is old, and remains thriving because of it's focus on progression and learning. Authorities in Decit are judged not by their popularity or power but by their ability to make noticeable change. Because of the cultural importance put on this sort of thinking, rarely do politics become based on anything more than raw results. This has allowed Decit to thrive in ways few nations have ever had the opportunity of doing.

Culture

As the acacia buds, it grows tall. It yearns for growth, as we should. It yearns for light, as we should. As it reaches a point where chasing this light no longer aids in its task for improvement, where it's absorbed all it can, it begins to grow outwards. It sprawls out wide, as to create a net for the light that rains from above and diversify. Each bud absorbing light that it would not have had without it's ancestor, and each leaf enriching the tree itself more and more. The woven leaves and branches of the tree make like a net, only letting loose when it's time to let it's kin go on without them, and repeat the cycle of growth. - Some Decitian Teacher Probably
To the Decitian, the acacia represents growth, improvement, and cultivation. It's not only on their flag, but in every schoolyard, every town hall garden, and so on. Though many outsiders criticize the analogies made of the tree to not really mean as much as some ancient philosophers may have thought, few seem to care. They symbolism manages to inspire and cause no harm to anyone, and so the change has never been needed.

Demography and Population

The Decitian people are old, though of all of the nations of Sedden they are probably the closest to those beneath it's surface. Many dark elves populate the lands of Decit. As well as that, due to it's vicinity, over the years ratfolk, specifically, have begun to slowly find homes within Decit. Though not always appreciated as much as they would be if they were human, these races find solace in the competitive and rational atmosphere that Decit generates.

"With every passing day, change."
