The Dim Periphery/Outer Fringe
As difficult as it is for light to reach the interior of Argent, there are places deep within the rock which see virtually no light at all, and absolutely never the light of day. Such places are inhabited by the denizens of Argent who lead a very different existence from the surface-dwelling beings further in. In the Dim Periphery, lack of light has caused nearly all creatures to either forgo the use of their eyes, or to develop sight which does not rely on the light necessary to the regular colour vision shared by most surface beings. In regions of the Dim specifically below the Argent's sea level, deeper even than the mountain caves inhabited by dwarves, gnomes and other such races, the distance from Facit reduces the outward force on creatures, allowing them to jump large distances or easily climb otherwise insurmountable surfaces as the false force of gravity is reduced in these places. Creatures such as arachnids and reptiles take advantage of the strong air but lessened weight in this realm to grow to formidable sizes, resulting in a terrifying battleground of megafauna that produce a constant threat for any who attempt to survive there.
Beyond that, deeper still in the Outer Fringe, Facit's influence becomes so minute that objects and creatures float freely in the stale air. Haphazard cracks in Argent's outer crust allow shafts of light to directly pierce the dark in some places, leaving still others in abject shadow, creating a truly alien landscape that very few forms of life can properly master. Here, odd races such as Myconids, unique plants, and mineral-based creatures adapt to the near absence of water by leading efficient, slow existences... perhaps harvesting sunlight in some places, or laying dormant for years awaiting the approach of a foolish meal.
