Argent
The world itself, instead of existing on the outside of a spherical planet, exists within the inside of two hemispherical shells of what once was a plane. The plane of Argent has two suns. One is a cold and harsh white and the other is a warm pleasant gold. A single rotation of this world makes up four days, each shell being lit by a different of the two suns with every coming day.
A giant sphere of water floats suspended in the center of the two, causing rainbows of light to descend during the brightest times of day. The water is held that way by some magical force as if it was in a large glass orb, though this orb has a number of cracks and large falls descend into the oceans. Though called different things by the Searan, the Seddenese call them The Pillars.
The two halves of the world, named by their respective inhabitants as "Sear" and "Sedden", for the vast majority of time have been entirely separate. Travel between the two has only been possible within the last hundred or so years, with the Seddenese discovering ways to travel across the vast gap. Though a small number of talented Searan mages had already been to Sedden, because of the privatization of information in Sear, travel and communication was never established.
The civilizations of Argent have developed separately, and in doing so they have moved in entirely different directions. Sear is a world of magic with magical creatures more prominent and magic more ingrained in their society, where Sedden is much more technologically advanced. Where the Seddenese have discovered steam power and learned to fly without magic, the Searan have built their social structures around the arcane. Flying cities and magical networks of travel connect the lands, and those with the magic control their availability and scarcity. Sedden being much more open and free to Sear's heavily enforced social structure under it's tall standing magocracy.
Geography
Large streams of water fall from these cracks and splash down into what has become the world's largest bodies of water. As the water evaporates, it returns to the orb. These cracks have slowly healed over time, but the falls originally came at such a pace that the world experienced great floods. The oceans are a result of these once great downpours from the heavens.
As Facit sits in the center of The Source he applies force to everything around him, pushing air, water, and all material objects down toward the earth. Being closer to Facit means experiencing a greater force of gravity toward the ground, and those deep within the earth feel light on their feet as they are sheltered by distance from Facit's power. As all air that would normally gather near to the Orb is pushed most strongly away by Facit, there is a band of near-vacuum high above the ground, below which the atmosphere transitions rapidly to perfect breathability. This air begins at over 13500 feet, meaning that the tops of mountains often present no more difficulty in breathing than any hike, and in fact the upper air is even denser than it is lower down. Air travel above the breathing band is likewise virtually impossible, as no balloon, plane, or bird is capable of flying without air for lift.
Those closer to the center of the mainland can see for incredible distances; large walls visible reach up into the sky creating the horizon where one of two suns crests every day: the large empty space between the two halves of Argent, where the sun appears and disappears for short stretches each day.
With the everpresent water that falls from The Source to the ground below, and the angle at which light shines through the gaps in Argent's exterior, the conditions are almost always perfect for the formation of rainbows. While more common in some places than others due to the locations of The Pillars, daylight hours on Argent are often brimming with the wondrous appearance of these magnificent arches of colour.
Gaining altitude increases relative lateral speed through angular velocity. This means that short distances and small speed increases at altitude translate to larger distances and greater speed increases at ground level.
Day/Night Cycles
The nights and days within the world and the way they cycle are different depending on the hemisphere you are in. Leading Edge- Even Days: the sun appears mid-sunset from behind the opposite hemisphere with center-biased shadows and an unlit orb, and sets below the close horizon of the same hemisphere.
- Odd Days: sun appears at its zenith from behind the far horizon of the same hemisphere with a lit orb, and disappears behind the orb/opposing hemisphere before sunset with edge-biased shadows.
- Even Days: the sun appears at its zenith from behind the opposite hemisphere with an unlit orb, and disappears on the far horizon of the same hemisphere with edge-biased shadows before sunset.
- Odd Days: the sun rises at the close horizon of the same hemisphere with an unlit orb and center-biased shadows and disappears behind the opposing hemisphere be fore reaching its zenith.
