The Scions of Dusk is an organization deeply ingrained in the noble houses of the Duchy de Venture and plays a big part in the political landscape as well.
Members of the Scions are mostly young members of noble houses, they pledge service to Venture and are primarily used as a mobile and efficient force when dealing with powerful foes. However, they also play an important role at court, as it is an honor for scions to be present at social events. Thus they are invited to many important occasions. This however is not purely for pleasure, scions observe and learn about the state of the duchy and the noble houses within. So if they rise to a position of power in their own family, they can implement appropriate policies to advance the duchy. Often members also serve as judges in local courtrooms or as majors to gather experience in managing and leading a society.
Even outside their duties the scions enjoy a high social status and frequent the noble society of Venture. The duchy is not stingy when it comes to funding the scions, so it is also possible to easily gain wealth through this faction.

History

The Scions of Dusk are a faction that existed even before House Venture founded the duchy and the organization itself has rich traditions and history. They have always worked closely with the nobility and held tournaments to determine the rank of the noble houses younger generations. However with time their political influence and their importance when it came to defending the duchy grew immensely. As the organization grew they started grooming commoners with potential to support the ranks of the scions and bolster the force against bigger threats.
During the war against The Baharuth Empire the scions were mysteriously occupied and only joined the war effort rather late. Many cite this as the reason why the duchy did not hold out longer and fell to the Empire. Despite their absence during the war the scions were very involved when it came to regain the duchy's independence.
