The Duchy de Venture
The Duchy lies in the south west of arkion separated from
The Baharuth Empire by the
Blackstone Mountainrange. Long stretching fields of grain dominate the landscape, cut by canals to Transport the goods throught the Duchy and even beyond. Trade and transport are very important in the duchy so even the occasional Airship can be spottet softly Drifting out into the Flatlands.
Formed in the Year 653 ac. (post Cataclysm) The family de Venture already held claim to multiple baronys surrunding their terretory, and with the support of
Count Farlier, they took over the stretch of land between the
Blackstone Mountainrange and the coastal provinces to the west. The land here has always been fertile presumably influenced by the Magic emanating from the
Forest of Jura. The land was then transformed for the use of agriculture, large fields of grain and long stretching vineyards replaced the grassy flatlands bit by bit, and today the duchy has the largest export of both wine and grain in all of arkion. Through this rich and fertile land The Venture Family has ammassed quite an exuberant amount of wealth. But despite their riches, it has always been a priority for the family to improve the lives of normal peasants as much as possible.
Militarily speaking throughout the years the Duchy has always been categorized between decent to formidable, but never anything Impressive, though stories have popped up through the ages of specialised units, aiding the duchy whenever there is war, devastating the battelfields. .
This tranquility and peace was only interrupted by some minor scuffles with the elves and a small kingdom to the north, its name lost in history. But in the year 988 ac venture
The Baharuth Empire put an abrupt end to this traanquillity. After
Straff van Baharuth conquered the Southern Dominion he turned west and marched for the Duchy. The knights of venture fought valliantly and bravely not giving an inch to the invaders at first, but much more coordinated and unified
The Baharuthan Legion soon gained the upper hand. Fights were desperate, the land ravaged by the Empire, but venture still held strong for as long as they could trying to wait it out in hopes the newly formed
Western Union would aid them. However the help of the union came too little too late and Venture fell.
During the occupation
Straff van Baharuth kept a lot of things they way they were, just some minor policies to increase production were introduced. In the years after the war Straff seemed a changed man in many aspects a lot softer as well.
Through negotiations stretching through the entire period of occupation , venture regained its freedom once again and was offered entry into the Western union, this however was quickly denied and relations were sour between venture and the union for the years to follow. The past century was then spent rebuilding and stabilizing the duchy aiming to climb and surpass past glory. .
