WIEGAS (wie-gas)
Overview
Wiegas is one of the oldest settlements in the nation of Sarton, emerging as one of the very first Sarton cities. An hundred years after the capital city of Shaulen was built, another city was built by the Sartons in order to expand the Kingdom. This city would be called Wiegas, named after the founder of the city. Sometime after its construction, a group of influential Sarton magi began to gain power in Wiegas. Initially starting as a local society of magi, they would soon gain complete control over Wiegas turning it into a center of power for them. Wiegas has managed to stand for nearly a thousand years, becoming a long-lasting symbol of the power of the Sarton Magi.
Demographics
The primary inhabitants of Wiegas are the members of the Sarton magi, who control everything within the city. Commerce & foreign people are allowed in the city, but are carefully watched by the Sarton magi and their enforcers. Interestingly, no one from the Gershonites are allowed anywhere near the city due to the great mistrusts that the Sarton magi have for them.
Defences
The defenses of Wiegas consist of the fearsome Sarton battlemagi, who form the fighting arm of the Sarton magi. They maintain the magical defenses of the city, and handle any external threats that Wiegas may face. The defenses consists from magical wards that span the entire length of the city, requiring a lot of power to use and maintain. There are also the Sarton Inquirers, who specialize in investigate cases in Wiegas. They work along the Battlemagi to solve problems within the city.
Points of interest
- The Arcane Citadel: The capital building of Weigas and the seat of power for the Archmagi and the Wiegas Council. All matters of the arcane are conducted here among the Sarton magi, and matters related to their influence within the Sarton kingdom. All Sarton magi who hold office in Wiegas meet here daily to discuss different matters. The Arcane Citadel is guarded by an special group of Battlemagi called the Arcaneguard, who answer directly to the Archmagi.
- Residential areas: this is where the Sarton magi maintain a personal residence in the city, including areas connected to the city. Each Archmagi is expected to keep a personal residence as having a residence inside the Arcane Citadel is expressly forbidden to all Wiegas Council members.
- The Arcanekeepers’ Hall: The library where all knowledge of Sarton magic is located, headed by the High Keepers. Arcanekeepers are the ones who keep and preserve all Sarton knowledge of the arcane, and keep records of the daily affairs of Wiegas.
- Battlemagi Arena: The base for the Sarton battlemagi that is used for training, meetings between leaders, and where orders are issued. The leader of the battlemagi, the Grandmagi, holds office here.
