Sygaldry

While they seem like two completely different forms of magic to most, sygaldry is actually very similar to synvesi and follows all the same principles. The key difference is that instead of speaking the words of the bindings, a set of ‘runes’ instead are drawn, often simply by focusing Mayar while moving one’s finger over the rune, where the Ferro stone lights up with its arcane green light to show the marking. Because of this, sygaldry is often called ‘synvesi made solid’.
As with synvesi, an individual Ferrousto is required for each rune and thus binding. The binding is inscribed into the shard and seemingly stored for a while, according to how much affinity was focused onto it. However, an additional ferrousto can be used to create a trigger of the binding when certain conditions are met. These conditions are altered by another series of augmentation bindings that are specific to sygaldry.
Leakage is much more of an issue for sygaldry, as the Leakage drain does not flow into the Artificer but directly into the ferrousto, which will not show any signs of Leakage until it overcharges and violently explodes (3d20 Ferrical Damage). Therefore, it is advised each component of the sygaldry is studied properly, adequate time is spent focusing on one’s Mayar to ensure the maximum Correspondence and that an energy sink is used within the device.

Contingency Augmentations

Follow Binding process

As with synvesi, the binding process of choosing an object and subject is followed for each stored binding within the device. For the contingency binding, however, only an object is used and so only the familiarity of the object applies and the coherence is not accounted for. The object for the contingency should be able to create a strong link to the intended subject. If the contingency is based on an environmental effect, the object should either be able to respond to such an environmental change itself or be able to link well with part of the item that can. If the contingency is based on an Arcane effect, it can only be a ferrousto itself. The sygaldry does not activate until the ‘binding of synvetic memory’ is spoken, but it can trigger on the artificer
