Blackwater

Blackwater is a bustling, coastal city that is a major center of trade and commerce in the region. The city is surrounded by a large stone wall that protects it from any potential invaders. The harbor is always busy, with ships coming and going from all corners of the realm. The streets are lined with all manner of shops and markets, and the air is filled with the sounds of haggling merchants, street performers, and the smell of freshly cooked food. The architecture of the city is a mix of old and new, with grand mansions and ancient ruins standing side by side. The people of Blackwater are diverse and come from all walks of life, ranging from wealthy merchants to humble fishermen. Despite its size and importance, the city is not without its troubles, as corruption, and betrayal are rife in its halls of power.

Infrastructure

Blackwater was previously known for it's plain and rustic architecture, with the main material of the city being stone. During the reign of Arctururs III, however, the city got an enormous overhaul, now mostly consisting of a giant harbour, with a large neughbouring industrial centrum. The ancient city walls have been reinforced with steel strips around the inside of the walls, to provide extra resistance to any invading forces. While the city is certainly very efficiently designed, it's not the most well-liked place to settle down, unless you're seeking a future in industry or trade.

Districts

The Harbour
The main district of Blackwater, their harbour is one of the largests hubs of trade in Arvendorith. Their advances in technology and their industrial prowess have led many countries and individual merchants to seek trade with the sea-side settlement, though in more recent years most export in Blackwater has gone to the war effort against the Blastonian invasion, creating a mighty wall of ships and floating fortresses in the harbour as a defence from any sea-side attacks. Most of the ships in the harbour of Blackwater have been stuck in the harbour ever since the checks on exported and imported goods have quintupled due to the fear of troops invading via an unsuspecting goods ship. These changes were most likely necessary, however, since a defenceless harbour could very well mean the end for Blackwater.
The Industry

The Slums
While most settlements have an area akin to The Slums, Blackwater prides itself on having made the slums a viable and functioning part of society. Before the reign of king Arcturus, the slums could be decribed as a safari for those interested in all manner of creatures of the dark, spanning from the (sometimes) blood-thirtsty bat, to the (often) innocent rat. Arcturus saw potential, however, and solved the unwanted mammal problem by introducing a new Blackwater delicacy to the world: Rats. Now the Slums are as a viable an industry sector as any other district in Blackwater, with many rat catchers finding their fame and fortune within the shrouded streets of The Slums.
