Micro-Fusion Engine

A micro-fusion engine is a small, compact engine capable of small, controlled nuclear activity. Micro-fusion technology was introduced at a civilian level on Earth just a few years before the coming of the Ash Gods and the Great Cataclysm. Consequentially, such technological marvels were almost entirely lost following the annihilation of humanity. However, some vehicles containing micro-fusion engines survived the destruction of Earth and remain buried beneath the ash blanket. Many survivor groups have located such devices and salvaged them. Most remove the engines from the vehicles and employ the sustainable source of energy to power life-support systems and produce heat. More militant and hostile groups of survivors leave the vehicles intact and convert them into armored killing machines known as Bastions.
