The Ash Gods
The Ash Gods is the most common name given to the race of alien beings that descended upon the planet Earth and, in one day, exterminated nearly all its native life, including up to 97% of humanity. They are the new owners of the planet now known as Ashrain. Nothing is known about them by the remnants of humanity, other than that they are virtually omnipotent, were capable of ransacking the entire planet in less than a day, and supposedly live within a series of titanic metal constructs that tower above the ash clouds scattered across the face of the planet. No human alive has ever seen one and lived to tell of their physical form or nature, if indeed they have either. They are, to humanity, essentially gods: all-powerful beings with the might to wipe out the whole human race at the snap of a finger. What manner of beings they truly are as irrelevant to human beings as the nature of humanity is to a colony of ants.

Anatomy
No human being that has lived to spread the word of what they saw or to record the event in any tangible way has ever laid eyes on an Ash God. Whether they are humanoid, totally alien, animalistic, or even physical beings is unknown. As far as human history remembers, they never set foot on the surface of the former planet Earth. Their only interaction with humanity was to wipe them out.

Average Technological Level
The Ash Gods appear to be vastly more technologically advanced than the human race, having mastered interstellar travel and arrived on Earth without warning or foreshadow. The initial ships of the aliens appeared in the skies above major population centers across the world in a matter of minutes, descending to the surface of the planet before news cameras could even begin recording. Once they did, it was only forty-seven seconds before the supposed ships emitted such a massive EMP disruption that every single mechanical device on Earth was disabled in a matter of minutes. Within the next two hours, waves of fire a hundred feet high swept across the entire surface of the planet, burning everything in their path to cinders. The Ash Gods then somehow triggered cataclysmic natural disasters across the world, such as the eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano, further devastating the planet. How they accomplished any of these things is a mystery, but can be attributed to the complexity of their technological power.
Having conquered the planet Earth in one day and terraformed it into the new world known as Ashrain, the Ash Gods settled into ownership of the planet by erecting gargantuan Constructs across the surface of the planet. These devices, thousands of meters in height, breach the cover of the ash cloud encircling the planet and sink deep into the planet's crust, as deep as the mantle possibly as extensive volcanic activity is triggered in the vicinity of these structures. Their purpose is unknown, but they are made of an alien metal unlike anything seen on Earth before. They are also virtually indestructible and emit a constant, sub-wave radio frequency that can be heard by the human ear as a steady sort of hum. This tembre is deeply distressing to the human mind, causing many who approach the Constructs to suffer delirium and madness.
