Chi’yuan

the protectors of refugees betrayed by their charges, made into refugees themselves

Chi'yuan was the ancient name of the people expelled from Landen Village by the Magsura and his followers, after they severed humanity's connection with Niryusha and seized power. Lead by the first Shur’h’neet, the venerable Savarkar'Yata, the chi'yuan traveled eastward into the southern jungles. They were quickly forced north through the Dry Mountains by the lashaan, facing starvation and death as they passed through foothills between the mountains and endless desert. Granted devine inspiration by Niryusha itself, Savarkar'Yata finally led his people through a hidden pass back through the mountains. Though this path led the chi'yuan back into the hands of the merciless lashaan, their lives were saved. In the jungles between the mountains and the Eastern Sea, the chi'yuan refugees were forced into a small riverside camp which would eventually become the their first settlement: Akhaal. Despite the oppression of the lashaan , the chi'yuan buitl a new home in Akhaal and prospered. After the deliverance and the establishing of Giaan’lun, they sent settlers out eastward again in search of a new homes and oportunities. Eventually settling along the coast overlooking the Infinite Isles, the chi'yuan established what would later become the great city of Segaar Khin.   It was here that they renamed the world they had enherited from the lashaan to 'Tamrakaaz' and renamed themselves the 'Dal Karchuan'. With their new vision for humanity and their determination to regain their connection to Niryusha, they began building a new society based on logic and wisdom.

Naming Traditions

Family names

While many of the names of the chi'yuan were lost during their tragic exodus from Landen Village and the famines and betryals following the deliverance, a few carry on to the modern day. Not just the five great houses of Bashir, Yeh, Deeaz'tzu, Nakadya, Kadhen, but also minor houses like the Argen, Atwalshien, and Kadae. Even the Joen'zi were once comrades of Savarkar'Yata in their journey out of the west.

"Such was the contempt of the Mag'sura, that he invited the children of the Moksh Ka Jishu to stay, so long as they knelt to him as slaves. Savarkar'Yata stood tall before the betrayer's insult and beckoned his people do likewise. And they did. Inspired by his strength, not a single knee was bent to the tyranny and profanity of magic that day."
