Personal history
Atypical for a divination mage, much of Tess's personal history is shrouded in secrecy. Though she is known to be a powerful diviner, she refuses to divine the future, often quoting of "One often meets his fate in attempting to seek a way to change it." Instead, she looks far into the history and past of the world around her, and encourages other mages to do the same. Again, quoting that "those who do not study history are bound to repeat it".
For this reason she is often respected amongst those others in her community who recognize the astounding and shocking lack of fighting prowess, but incredible depth of knowledge that make her seen as a valuable ally or desirable slave. Though she is judicious and responsible in both, and strangely immune to influence from the other families despite an apparent weakness.
Adding to the strange history of the mage, it is well known that she held both her role as family head, and as a member of the second expedition. Both tasks performed simultaneously and executed with the same level of perfectionism that she is known for. Attempting to guide the adventurers to great success, as well as using her extensive experience as family head to handle all of the various accounting and expenses.
After the expedition ended, she returned to her duties as family head, and persists there today. seeming to have satisfied whatever goals she had once set out to perform.
