Ministry of Magic

The guiding and controlling organization behind the island of Arcani, whilst the power of the rulership exists in the hands of their ruler, the actual power exists in the hands of the 9 mages which counsel him.

Structure

Whilst the ministry of magic counsels and provides a unified front to the world as the controlling power of Arcani, the organization is closer to a counsel made up of 9 different "schools" of magic. With each leader being an archmage and master of their individual art. The families themselves are significantly more complex, though the ministry cannot convene without the presence of all 9, discouraging assassination attempts as determining a new head for each family is a lengthy complicated process.

Culture

An elitist magocracy, the ministry of magic is exceptionally corrupt and nepotic. Frameworked as a "challenge to bring out the true-future elite from the rough" it in truth serves as a method of breaking the wills and spirits of newcomers into joining a family simply in that a personal path forward is considered too challenging to achieve.

Assets

With favors and research as it's lifeblood, one might think a culture of elitism and purity might draw out the weakness in the body, one must remember that with the sole exception of it's head, each family is constantly embroiled in a shadow-war behind the scenes, each surviving member of a family has been trained and honed from the second of their birth to the moment they die.   This combined with numerous relics has empowered the city of Arcani such that it's true might could overcome significant numerical disadvantages with relative ease.

Mythology & Lore

The origin of the Minsitry is said to be based upon 9 ultra-powerful mages in support of a single unifying figure. Each mage is said to have a chiseled body of perfection, dressed in armor that would resist the brute-force of a steel golem, whilst in turn having the ability to upend the natural world and it's laws.   For this reason, and due to traditions carried unto the natural age, heraldric armors belong to each "family" that heads the ministry, with each family containing secret training regimens for ensuring the ability to maintain their momentum and abilities as a caster whilst armored.
