sXIII: The Moathouse Dungeon

General Summary

After camping in the courtyard of the moathouse, the Mercenaries of the Wheel decided to split, and send a scouting team into the dungeon below. Ceaser would stay behind recovering from hypothermia for the next five days, and Verena would stay with him, unable to get any restful sleep the previous night.   The others, Xaod, Ingrith, Spugnoir, and Dughall explored the dungeon beneath the moathouse for many hours, eventually discovering a faint chanting or moaning or perhaps even crying. Following it the group would discover five animated corpses of previous party members, Finn, Brog, Bitty, Pip, and Mangoseed. Upon feeling the presence of life, 4 of the members fell forward into a large pool of water, while Finn pointed and cried at the bottom of the pool, before jumping in himself.   Forcing Finn's spirit back, he was questioned by the current mercenaries, who discovered that the previous groups souls where being bound to a structure beneath the pool, that was causing pain beyond comprehension. It was at this point that Dughall decided to swim to the bottom of the near-freezing pool. With the aid of water breathing from Legba, Dughall was able to find a large plug at the bottom of the pool, and lifting it, began draining the pool of water.   After completely draining the pool, Dughall saw a massive cavern, and using limited flight, quickly scouted a man-made platform that would allow the party to be raised or lowered via a pully system. He also began to notice the air of this cavern was unaturally cold. Realizing the area was unholy, he returned to the party, and told them of the cavern and the cold.
