Cassisus

North of Avec is the ruins of the former Cassian empire. The Cassians lost of series of lengthy wars with the Hadrian, and at the end of their final confrontation the Hadrianic army burned their cities, enslaved the surviving population, and salted their fields.  The ruins of its former cities are said to be cursed and plagued by undead.
The Hadrianic Empire recently established small colonies along the southern coast, but without any strong central authority the colonies have become a haven for pirates, corsairs, and political exiles.  The Order of the Tall Brother, a group of mainly dragonborn paladins, controls the interior of the island and claims to be waging a never-ending war against servants of Lloth.  Whatever their motivations, they seem to tolerate the presence of the Hadrians, and have even sent emissaries to the capital to establish a new chapter of the order at the behest of the Church of Krom.
