Church of Krom

The Church of Krom is dedicated to the worship of Krom and spreading his word throughout the Hadrianic Empire and beyond.  The main temple is in the former Senate building and is where the Archbishop, Alexandrus III, oversees the affairs of the church.  The temple also serves as a tribunal for those accused of heresy, with guilty parties publicly punished or executed on temple grounds.   Krom is often depicted as an old warrior with a horned helmet, long hair, and a beard.  The primary belief of Krom's religion is that he was captured and tortured by the old serpent gods when he refused to bow to their wicked laws, and was sentenced to a slow and painful death on the Tree of Woe.  Instead of dying, Krom received a divine vision, and used his newfound strength to free himself from the Tree of Woe and destroy the serpent gods by his own hands.    Krom's followers believe in conversion through victory.  As the official deity of the Hadrianic Empire, Krom's influence has spread far and wide as the empire's enemies have either fallen to their legions or been outright destroyed.  When the Hadrians allow a conquered territory to worship their native gods, they must first recognize the primacy of Krom, build a temple befitting of their new god, and pay his temple proper tribute.
