Lost in the Woods
General Summary
The party began searching through the forest but found the dense woods to be difficult to navigate. Towards the end of the second day of their travel, Precision heard voices and crashing sounds coming from the woods to their west. She stealthily crept closer only to find Folsten and Thørn, the two aspiring adventurers the party had encountered a few times before in Hildonia. The two seemed to be, rather incompetently, tracking a beast they referred to as a ravager. The party agreed to lend a bit of help in the morning and prepared to make camp. After watching the two struggle to light a fire, Aberchak easily lit it for them and kept watch. In the morning, they noticed a large ursine print on the ground and deduced it to be from this ravager. They tracked it for a ways before losing the trail, and the two adventurers carried on as the party headed east towards a clearing spotted by the Arch-Hoot. As they approached the clearing they discovered an crumbling Arideian waytower, ancient arcaltium-powered structures created by the Arideian Empire to facilitate communication and travel. The party observed that this tower seemed to be habituated and so Aberchak snuck into the top floor, finding it to be inhabited by bandits. As he attacked from above the rest of the group barged through the front door and made swift work of the outlaws living there. Further below, they discovered a cavern inhabited by spiders and strange fungus-like creatures. They fought their way through, drawing the ire of a rogue clay golem in the process. After clearing out the cavern, they found another room built into the stone and after looking through the notes they found it to be the study of a long-dead mage named Ingelor who had apparently created this golem in secret but was killed by it when he was unable to maintain control over it. Lethe took the notes with the hopes of one day creating a golem of his own, and the party ventured back out into the woods. They traveled through the night, led by Aberchak, then continued in the morning with Erevan taking point. After a painful trek through a vast ticket of sharp brambles Lethe took over. The party continued forwards, eventually running across three ogres feasting upon the bodies of thirteen dwarfs and a halfling. Among the bodies Lethe spotted a faintly glowing sword, and was able to sneak up and retrieve it without alerting the ogres. Lethe was able to identify the sword as a magical falchion and gave it to Aberchak to use. As he sun set, the party prepared to make camp for the night. As they gathered around the fire for dinner, they heard a noise behind them and found themselves facing a strange, bipedal tortoise-like creature. The creature took a few steps forward, and asked if he could share their dinner.Chapter Twenty-Eight
