Shoulda Put A Ring On It
General Summary
The session opened on a group of mercenaries escorting a small horse-drawn carriage down a dirt road along the eastern edge of the Olfeg Forest. Held prisoner inside the carriage sat Lethe Argie and Erevan, two elves who for varying reasons attempted to seek out the Eloqui Order. In the city of Ömstad both were independently tricked and taken prisoner by a group of mercenaries, among whom numbered Precision. The wagon was attacked by bandits from the forest, and in the confusion Lethe managed to free himself and through the use of magic scare away one of the two surviving mercenaries. Precision, her employers now dead and having no particular interest in continuing to escort the two elves, instead joined alongside them as the group traveled up the road to Bountyfair. Upon arrival, the party noted that the town seemed to be on edge, and that most commerce appeared to have dried up. They learned through Edwin, proprietor of the Old Orange Inn, of a group of bandits led by a man named Vikrun who had been terrorizing the town. The town had asked for help from the crown but none had arrived, and so Sheriff Wilford rallied a posse to take care of the matter. That was two weeks ago, and no one had returned from the forest. While negotiating for payment to take care of the gang, two of Vikrun's men entered the inn and demanded payment from Edwin. The party quickly dispatched one of them and took prisoner the second one, whom they learned was named Josef. Much to the chagrin of Edwin, Lethe utilized his unseen servant to clean up the mess, while the party met the town sage Alvin Onas, who told the party he believes that Vikrun is holed up in an ancient tomb belonging to a Knight of the Doleful Aspect. At sundown, the party trekked out through the Olfeg Forest to Vikrun's Hideout. By using Lethe's unseen servant to steal their roast duck, the party managed to lure the bandit guards away from the entrance and dispatch them with ease. The party then entered the hideout and defeated Vikrun and his bandits, finding Sheriff Wilford tied up in the cave. Through inspecting the cave, Erevan read aloud an inscription that unbeknownst to him was the oath of the Order of the Doleful Aspect. Upon saying the words aloud, a secret room was revealed. Inside the party found a ring floating above an ornate sarcophagus. Upon taking the ring, the tomb began collapsing. The party made it out just in time to avoid being crushed by the falling stone, and both Lethe and Erevan realized that in the presence of the ring they were able to utilize magic without suffering any pain or difficulty.Characters Interacted With
