Food Pickling
From conventional ingredients like peppers to more unusual items like eggs, the Kalzua and the Adalei of the Middle Realm can and will pickle anything they can get their hands on using vinegar sourced from their neighbors, the Suktu.
Utility
Manufacturing
The pickle maker's desired ingredients are placed in a jar, which is then filled with boiled brine (made from a mixture of vinegar, salt, and various other seasonings.) The jar is set aside for up to several weeks. Many different flavor combinations are possible depending on which spices are added to the brine.

This preservation process is fairly simple. All one has to do in order to pickle something is submerge it in vinegar and set it aside.
Discovery
How the tradition of pickling began remains a mystery. It's likely that someone was fond of the taste of vinegar and thought that soaking ingredients in it would result in an enjoyable combination, thereby discovering the preservative properties of the approach accidentally.
