Silver Rahm
A four-lobed, symmetrical coin with a square hole in the center. The hole is used for stringing this and other coins on a cord so they can be sorted and transported easily. The coins have slightly different buying power and decor depending on the region, but their basic shape remains the same due to the early prototypes being spread quickly across the continents of Chengai and Tasawa soon after the beginning of the Age of Balance.
In size, the coins are better suited for Suktu and Polda hands. They look large when held by the Adalei and the massive hands of the Twolligs make them seem tiny.
Manufacturing process
The molten metal used to make the coins is poured into molds, then cooled and filed to remove rough edges.
History
Shortly after the Age of Balance began and substantially-sized settlements began to form, it became apparent that the barter system just wasn't feasible on such a large scale. People experimented with using wooden chips as value markers for a while, but they were so easily-made that their worth plummeted within a few months. It's unknown who came up with the idea of using valued metals in the form of coins, but the idea quickly took off, spreading across Chengai and Tasawa until it became the standard used in cities all across both continents.
Significance
The coin mostly holds value in settlements like the tall cities, where, depending on how many of them you have and are willing to spend, you can buy anything ranging from a hot meal to someone's assassination.
