Twollig (TWAH-lig)
The Twolligs are a hardy race who can withstand some of the coldest environments of the Middle Realm. Despite their massive size, they're incredibly gentle and avoid violence unless absolutely necessary.

Twolligs are bipedal, with two arms and two legs.
Biological Traits
The Twolligs possess the ability to rebuild their bodies with natural materials. An injury that would require devestating amputations for another race, such as an irreparably shattered bone or the loss of a sizable chunk of muscle, can often be healed by skilled Twollig medics.
Genetics and Reproduction
Gestation lasts for around 300 days. Single births are most common, with twins being rare.
Ecology and Habitats
The Twolligs thrive in cold, mountainous climates because they're extremely resistant to altitude sickness and low temperatures. Their range of travel is rather limited because they're known to suffer in warmer parts of the Middle Realm.
Dietary Needs and Habits
They're entirely vegetarian, eating only plants and non-meat animal products such as milk and cheese.
Biological Cycle
They follow the natural migration patterns of the herd animals they keep, accompanying their flocks up the mountainsides during the spring and summer, then back to the valley floors during the harsher winter and fall.
Behaviour
Gentle and ponderous, the Twolligs are the most peaceful race hailing from the Middle Realm. They rarely kill, simply lacking the ability to do harm to other living creatures except through self-defense or the protection of their herds. Their migratory nature, connections to the natural world, and gentle personalities make them excellent shepherds for grazing herd animals.

The Twolligs usually possess strong jawlines and pronounced noses. Mottled patches and freckles span their cheeks, a trait which they see as a sign of beauty. Their canine teeth are long, thick, and curved, extending toward their cheeks from the corners of their mouths. Their eyes are typically monolidded.

As one of the Realms' intelligent races, the Twolligs are capable of demanding intellectual pursuits like advanced mathematics, architecture, and sciences. In particular, the Twolligs are gifted in matters pertaining to the natural world and animal husbandry.

They have excellent eyesight, very good hearing, and a decent sense of smell. Their sight isn't hindered by low-light conditions.

Beauty Ideals
Individuals with strong, symmetrical features and skin mottled with different colors are considered attractive. More spots and freckles on the skin are usually seen as desirable. Healthy, well-cared-for tusks are also appreciated as a sign of attractiveness.
Gender Ideals
Twolligs see each gender as being different, but equal. Men, women, and those who see themselves as a blend of both (or something else entirely) are all free to pursue whichever social roles they want within their tribes. Though the genders typically have traditions of dress and behavior, bending those expectations isn't viewed as a matter of consequence.

Each Twollig family tends to form a close bond with a Suktu family from a rural area, to whom they return each winter in order to trade or perform services for one another. The time of their return is anticipated by both parties and is celebrated through a small festival every year.
