Suktu Visual Arts (SOOK-too)
The Suktu create diverse works of art that suit a dual purpose or are recycled. Utilizing a wide variety of media, this intelligent race breathes life into objects that, while beautiful, still retain a high level of functionality or incorporate materials others would consider worthless.
History
As with every intelligent race, the Suktu began creating art shortly after the start of the Age of Balance. Due to their primary concern being the exploration of their surroundings, their interest in art didn't begin quite as quickly as others like the Xhiri, but the Suktu did still find their niche within the art world of the Middle Realm eventually.
Execution
Suktu art is easily identified due to the fact that it's often beautiful and functional at the same time. Painted or delicately-thrown plates, bowls, cups, and teapots are prime examples of ceramic creations. Eating utensils, candle holders, and plates can exemplify metal forging or casting techniques. Intricately carved game boards or furniture show off skilled woodworking abilities.
Another common theme present in Suktu visual arts is the use of broken objects in the creation of new works. Fragmented shells, glass, or tiles may be used to make mosaics. Shattered ceramics might be pieced back together and sealed with gold. The Suktu are highly creative when it comes to the utilization of many different broken items in their art, even if others would see the items as being useless.
Participants
For the Suktu, the art-creation process can be extremely collaborative. It's common for multiple people to work on the same piece for multiple reasons, including the utilization of multiple skill sets or speeding up long production times.
