The Clockwork Collective

The Clockwork Collective is the worldwide confederation of the Clockwork peoples. Created by The Clockwork Beast to unify its denizens, the Collective soon fell victim to ideological infighting, ultimately splintering into three main factions. While not officially named, as they each believe themselves to be the rightful ruling body of the Collective, the factions have adopted symbols and iconography, and so are commonly known by nicknames based on these symbols: the Blood, the Chain, and the Bridge.
Around the start of the eighth century, as the Clockwork Beast attempted to establish a community and encourage the Collective to adopt mining as their trade, the factions began to struggle internally and make moves to establish their dominance by enacting their will across the world, ultimately resulting in the Clockwork War. 

Blood

The Blood faction is driven by a desire for racial purity. They view the Clockwork as superior to all other species, and the rightful rulers of the world. Their mission is to annihilate all other sentient life on the planet, leaving the Clockwork alone to populate the world.

Chain

The Chain faction shares the Blood's view of the Clockwork as the world's superior race and legitimate rulers, but lack their taste for genocide. Rather, they believe that all organic creatures should pledge fealty to the Clockwork and submit to slavery.

Bridge

The Bridge arm of the Collective believe that it is possible to generally coexist with the organic species of the world. While, individually, their beliefs range from grudging tolerance to true equality, they are unified in their belief that the Clockwork and the organics both have a place in the world.
