Great Rainforest

The great Rainforest is a huge swath of land found in the southern reaches of the new world. Expeditions there have revealed that it is the source of a tremendous amount of diversity, both in the normal animals as well as some truly monstrous creatures. One does not have to travel too far into the jungles to find evidence of all kinds of new fruits, plants, and colorful birds. In addition, several expeditions have returned with some of the most fantastic creatures from huge warm-blooded lizards to man-eating plants. Often after being studied these creatures are sold to Circus Flotillas where they are well tended and shown off to an adoring public.
Expeditions to the Great Rainforest have quickly learned that they need to be well guarded. Many expeditions have been attacked and barely survived, or not returned at all. Often in addition to hiring normal mercenaries or adventuring guilds, an expedition will make a donation to the Milites Sapientis of the The Knights of Deorum Hominus in exchange for several knights to defend them in scientific research.
It has been noted by scholars that while some of the animals from this region of the new world are quite large and monstrous, they are all naturally occurring creatures which are quite different than the aberrations found on the The Dark Coast Life is so diverse that there are even new sapient species found here that cannot be found anywhere else. These rumors include plant people, cat people, and there may be more that are as yet undiscovered. It is not known if they are part of a larger culture, an emergent culture, or even remnants of the collapsed culture that built the ruins that are rumored to be found deep in the jungle.
