House Surrey

The Surreys are the ruling house in the kingdom known as The Lavish. They are the last royal elven bloodling within the kingdom and use their ancestral magic to maintain their territories. While the elves of Regala and the Faewood draw their arcane energy from the massive trees known as the Yggdrasil, the Lavian elves use a combination of Crystal magic and the Yggdrasil in the Everwood to the north. The Surreys rule from their large castle Riverwatch which stands upon a plateau surrounded by a series of rivers.
To ensure the bloodline remains under elven rule while also trying to have as many alliances as possible, they disinherit every half-elven child and only the true elves are allowed to inherit. Half-elven children of the Surrey family do not take on the typical bastard name "of the Lavish," but take on the name 'Greenhare'.         During the War of Independence, Kevyn Surrey led the Arcane division of the Lower forces and played an integral part in winning the Battle of Golden Claws. Kevyn is one of the rulers who signed The Treaty of the Lion and decided on the formation of the Lower Land Alliance.   House Surrey has been struggling to gain total control over their lands as decided under the Treaty. The Black Lands are a region in the Lavish, shielded from the Surrey magic by a large wall. These lands are inhabited by a clan of dwarves in the large mountain city of Innhelm and a clan of Dragonborn within the city of Brimstone, located on the side of the large volcano known as the Demon's Eye. None of the people on either side of the wall claims to have built it.   There have also been struggles between House Surrey and the Evenglow Isles, a series of islands to the north of the region also known as 'the Pirate Kingdom.' As the name suggests, this region is mostly inhabited by pirates who, when threatened, are willing to gather under a single banner. This is usually under the winged skull flag of Suzie McFox, captain of the Waving Wyvern.
