The First Battle of The Final War

A large force of heavily armed dwarven soldiers left from Helmsgood, walking into the direction of Alfalya.
Elven scouts reported this back and so Alfalya sent their own soldiers to meet the dwarves in battle.
The dwarven army was led by King Gabil Greybeard.
The elven army was led by King Faurdir Mellan.

The Conflict

Prelude

The elves waited in the Isila Forest as it makes it harder for the dwarves to move their troops and war machines.
The dwarves brought barely any siege equipment, knowing that this equipment is better used elsewhere. Knowing that the elves will make them fight in the forest it is better to focus on infantry.

Battlefield

The Isila Forest was the battlefield.

Conditions

It was a cold and cloudy day.

The Engagement

The dwarves were showered with arrows by the elven forces, however their heavy armour and shields helped tremendously against this.
Eventually the heavy dwarven infantry met the elven melee fighters, irregular units of sword and spearelves with light to medium armour.
The battle was brutal and lasted the entire day due to the sheer number of soldiers. The elves attempted to flank the dwarves several times however detachments of medium dwarven infantry put a stop to that easily.
The battle took so long that both armies broke off and rested a few times before reengaging.
In the end, the dwarves smashed through the elven forces and made them retreat.

Outcome

The dwarves won the battle, inflicting many casualties on the elves.
However the dwarves themselves lost a chunk of their own forces to the determined fighting of the elves.
The elves ended up routing further into the forest.

Aftermath

The dwarves ended up pursuing the elves after several hours of rest.
